Texas Department of Criminal Justice Releases
A person convicted in a Reagan County court may be transferred from the county jail to any appropriate TDCJ unit in Texas. That transfer is not community release. Once TDCJ accepts custody, its statewide records control the prison term and release calculation.
Parole or mandatory supervision ends physical confinement but begins supervision. Discharge generally means the sentence and supervision obligation ended, subject to a separate case or continuing legal duty. The actual release date, release type, certificate, and Parole Division record are stronger than disappearance from a current-only search.
Confirm a TDCJ Release for Reagan County

- Search by TDCJ or SID number when known, or combine name with available identifiers.
- Match the TDCJ number, SID, name, race, gender, county of conviction, offense, and sentence facts.
- Read Projected Release Date, Parole Eligibility Date, Maximum Sentence Date, and any Scheduled Release block as distinct fields.
- If the former prisoner no longer appears, call TDCJ information staff or request the actual release or discharge record.
- For parole supervision, confirm the supervising office with the TDCJ Parole Division.

Ask for actual release or discharge date, release type, incarceration history, and release certificate. TDCJ's ordinary information service states no charge for its listed information, though a broader Public Information Act request can carry ordinary charges or exceptions. Its informal information channel says public inmate photographs are not provided.
TDCJ Institutions Serving Reagan Sentences
No state prison was verified within Reagan County. The facility-map entry represents the statewide system that can receive a person sentenced in a Reagan County court. It must not be described as a county jail or assigned the Big Lake jail's address, phone, roster, or release process.
The Reagan sheriff records admission and transfer out of county custody. TDCJ then records state placement, sentence calculations, parole review fields, scheduled processing, and actual release. The County/112th District Clerk preserves the judgment and jail-time credit that help explain why state custody began. Each source answers a separate part of the chronology. Retain copies from every custodian when the sequence or exact release type must be established later.
Read TDCJ Release-Date Fields Carefully
A TDCJ result may show TDCJ and SID numbers, identity fields, current facility, county of conviction, offense, sentence date and length, Projected Release Date, Parole Eligibility Date, and Maximum Sentence Date. Availability changes with custody and record state.

Good-conduct time, discipline, sentence changes, jail credit, detainers, consecutive terms, parole-board action, and release-plan processing can change a projection. Texas has no blanket rule that every prisoner serves 85 percent. Individual calculations require the correct offense date and statutes.
Parole Is Not TDCJ Discharge
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles makes parole and discretionary mandatory-supervision decisions. TDCJ's Parole Division administers supervision. A favorable vote can require more processing or a program before physical release, and approval can be withdrawn if new information appears.
Before a favorable vote, the research directs status questions to 844-512-0461. After a favorable vote, use 512-406-5202 for release status. A Reagan County parolee is assigned through the San Angelo District Parole Office at 1070 Gateway Drive, San Angelo, not a Big Lake parole office. Confirm current supervision through the responsible agency rather than inferring it from an old TDCJ result.
Reconcile Reagan Court and TDCJ Records
The combined Reagan County/112th District Clerk can provide the docket and signed judgment. Those records establish conviction, sentence, jail-time credit, and later court action. The county jail sheet shows physical delivery to TDCJ. TDCJ shows the state custody period and later release mechanism.
Preserve all three sources when exact timing matters. A transfer date is not a prison release date. Parole eligibility is not a favorable vote. A favorable vote is not physical departure. Release from prison to supervision is not discharge. This layered wording avoids overstating any one screen and keeps arrest, conviction, custody, and sentence completion distinct.
